SGLT2 Inhibition and Diabetes - Video

This video resource explores the mechanism of action of SGLT2 inhibition in a kidney with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

What you'll learn:

  • How SGLT2 inhibition prevents glucose and sodium reabsorption in the proximal tubule, leading to glycosuria and a lowering in plasma glucose
  • How preventing sodium uptake may restore sodium delivery to the macula densa and activate tubulo-glomerular feedback (TGF)
  • The results of two studies into SGLT2 inhibition amongst diabetes patients, one of young adults with type 1 diabetes and one of older patients with type 2 diabetes
